Words from our CEO, Donna Shepherd

Most of us are feeling the pressure right now. The cost of living is rising, and there’s a sense of uncertainty playing out in communities all over the world.

When things feel like this, it goes against something basic in us. We’re made to come together, which is why conflict and division feel like an affront.

In the midst of everything, we’ve noticed more people turning up to our community events and connecting with their neighbours. They’re coming back to what’s close to them. This might seem like a small thing, but it matters.

When we come together it makes us feel safe. It allows us to support one another and gives us a shared sense of purpose. It also reminds us that we still have agency. Because no matter what is happening out there, we can still reach out and show up for the people around us.

For our clients, this creates a real opportunity. How can we support moments of connection in ways that are local and meaningful to the communities we serve?

This is the work we do every day.

In this edition, we’re sharing how we build this in communities. And how these moments of connection are more important than ever right now.

We thank you for being on the journey with us.

Meet your neighbour

Last month, future residents of Constellar at Cardup Junction (by Richard Noble) came together to tour the site of their new homes and meet their neighbours. Each of the 64 residents stood on their own block for the first time and shared ideas about the community they want to build. Residents have already embraced a Community Compact.
